Well Vista…. cannot stop talking about it.
This time I want to tell something about the security popus vista displays.
At microsoft they call it UAC, User Account Control.
I call it….. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH…. where is the pop-up killer for this !
Well… I found it ! I googled and found this URL http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm
The easiest sollution is doing the Control Panel sollution.
They also have a small movie how to do it !

Microsoft Vista Sucks…. Well not completely, but it is not even a near finished (and bugfree) product I think.
I think Microsoft felt the new Ubuntu versions breathing down the neck… and with all the articles about the vista delays, they just had to give out this Vista (Millenium / ME) version.
I have a Dell Computer… an Dimension 9200 to be exact.

It drove me nuts !!…………. VISTA !!!!!!! om My Dell Dimension 9200
Problems, errors, crashes …. but most of all … very slow internet connection. (with timeouts and connection errors)
The strange thing was…. it was on all my pc’s… even pc’s with Ubuntu or Windows XP installed.
When I shut down the Vista PC…. internet was very fast on all other machines !
I really … really … really hate Vista !!
I get Errors !!
I have Driver problems !!! (logitech webcam won’t work very well)
I have Hardware Problems (my pc is brand new)
I have Software problems !!
I have XP SHared printer connection problems !!
I have Software crashes… and even Vista crashes !
And most of all… I have Internet Problems…
It is slow…. so … so …. very ….. very slow… and offcourse I get connection errors.
But wait … there is more… not only the connection on my Vista pc is slow… no … it just slows down my whole network…. so my wife is not very happy about that….
So today… I am going to unplug this piece of CRAP ! and install Ubuntu on my pc.
Like I told you before, I have Vista working on my new PC.
I have a Logitech Zoom webcam, which worked just fine with Windows XP
Vista does not know this webcam, and logitech doesn’t provide the drivers for Vista.
No, logitech would like it more if you buy a new Vista ready webcam.
I don’t want to buy a new webcam, so I searched for a workaround, and found one.
- Install QuickCam 32-bit Version: 10.5.0 or newer , download here
- When you get to the camera detection part where it asks you to plug in your camera, plug it into a new usb port (if you had it plugged in when you installed Vista) and just press skip.
- Windows may try and find the driver for it, you can cancel that too.
- Install the old QuickCam software (Version: 8.4.8 build 1034A)and overwrite anything it asks you to (it will fail to install completely because of the new version, but it will put the files you need into the Logitech program files directory.
The old software is here - Go to the windows orb (former start button), open control panel, go to system, then on the top left of the window click device manager.
- Find the unknown usb device (hopefully you only have one… otherwise unplug anything else that doesn’t work or you haven’t updated the driver for yet)
- Right click and select update driver, choose a location to find the driver, navigate your way to C:Program FilesLogitechQuickCamWebInstallDriversWinNewPRO2
- Press OK or whatever, and let it install.
- Enjoy!
